Employee Payroll Tax Deductions for 2019

This explains some of the differences beginning on your first pay of 2019 related to any change on local income tax rates in case you missed it.

Federal Income Tax

  • Withholding will be made in accordance with 2019 Internal Revenue Service tax
  • Your current W-4 filing status prints on your pay stub. Please review this information to ensure that proper deductions are being taken. If you need to adjust your federal income tax withholding, please complete the W-4 form, which is located on the intranet.

Social Security Taxes

  • Employee FICA contribution rate is 2% (no change)
  • Maximum base wage for FICA will be $132,900 (increase from 128,700)
  • MEDICARE contribution rate is 1.45% (no change) ~ All 2019 wages are subject to the Medicare tax

State Tax

  • 07% (no change)

Unemployment Tax

  • .07% (no change)

Local Income Tax

The proper taxing jurisdiction is based on your physical address. Some of the Lancaster County local income tax rates are:

  • Lancaster City 1%
  • Lancaster County 1%
  • Lancaster Township 0%
